Healing the Trauma and Other Triggers That Have Turned Your Body Against You
Book review
Sara Szal Gottfried, M.D., has written a book that reveals how our bodies are wired due to trauma. This can result in autoimmune disease, which affects over 24 million people. The author lays out a comprehensive plan to heal the body by resetting the immune system.
Autoimmune disease is defined as a condition when the body’s immune system attacks itself. This is a condition that conventional medicine has had little success in treating. The symptoms can be vague and hard to pinpoint such as aches, fatigue, memory issues, pain, weight gain and anxiety. One may not think of immune system dysfunction immediately.
Gottfried observed that many of her patients with these symptoms suffered from autoimmune diseases. She also observed that these patients had experienced a history of trauma.
This book offers hope to those who are suffering from autoimmune disease by addressing past emotional issues. It is possible to reset the immune system and restore health. She includes suggestions for diet, supplements, breathwork, sleep, microbiome restoration, somatic therapy, ketamine-assisted therapy, microdosing of psilocybin, and MDMA-assisted therapy.
