Metabolic syndrome is incredibly common and is responsible in large part for cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and diabetes. But what you might not realize is that metabolic syndrome is also a big cause of BPH (prostate enlargement) and bladder symptoms.
Prostate Health
The prostate gland is located below the bladder and wraps around the upper part of the urethra. As a result it can affect urination and sexual dysfunction. There are three main conditions that affect the prostate.
- Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) – a condition where the prostate becomes enlarged and in most cases is considered a fact of aging.
- Prostate cancer – an abnormal growth of cells and can range from local occurrence to metastasis.
- Prostatitis – inflammation of the prostate; can be considered acute when it is caused by a bacterial infection or chronic causing chronic pelvic pain syndrome.
Prostate Cancer Packet
